We are seeking a strategic and hands-on leader to oversee our global Legal & Compliance function. This role will play a key part in supporting icotec’s international growth and ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards across jurisdictions. The ideal candidate is an experienced legal professional who thrives in a dynamic, international environment and is eager to build scalable processes in close collaboration with our global teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the global Legal & Compliance team, overseeing both strategic direction and day-to-day operations.
- Draft and review a broad range of commercial and business to business agreements, including supplier, customer, licensing, royalty, IP, and software contracts.
- Responsible for developing and executing global compliance strategies and policies. Design, organize, and deliver compliance training programs as part of our global compliance framework.
- Serve as the company's Data Protection Officer, ensuring adherence to international data privacy regulations.
- Identify potential legal and compliance risks, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.
- Independent management and monitoring of intellectual property rights (e.g. trademarks, word/image marks, patents, designs)
- Act as the main liaison to external legal advisors and coordinate legal matters across jurisdictions.
- Be a strong and competent partner to company leadership for all Legal & Compliance aspects of the business.
- Provide holistic legal support to various departments on compliance, data protection, labor law, and other corporate legal matters, facilitating informed decision-making across the organization.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Legal & Compliance function, supporting individual development and ensuring high performance.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree or equivalent from an accredited U.S. law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- A minimum of 6 years of progressive legal and compliance experience, including leadership roles, within the MedTech, pharmaceutical, or broader life sciences sectors.
- Strong understanding of US law, preferably with additional experience in EU and Swiss legal laws.
- Fluent in English, with German language skills desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders across regions and functions.
- Strategic thinker with a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset and the confidence to make sound decisions in a complex regulatory environment.
- Ability to align legal and compliance strategies with overall business objectives, providing pragmatic and solution-oriented advice to senior management.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international company with evolving legal and compliance needs.
This is a full-time, hybrid role (requiring regular presence in the office) for candidates located in the Greater Boston area.
